In early 19th century the building of the first City theatre was built on Kreschatik street. After it was destroyed
in 1856 a new one was created. It was located on Vladimirskaya street where now is the building of the National Opera
of Ukraine is situated. In those times they had the drama, opera and ballet performances on its stage. The nowadays
theatre building was built in the new-renaissance style was created by the architect Nikolaev by the tender project
of architect Shreder. The life of the theatre started with the opera written by the famous music writer Michael
Glinka "Ivan Susanin".
In 1980 the building of the theatre was renovated and improved. The interior of the theatre looks really magnificent:
the combination of the baroque and new-renaissance styles makes the premises to look really special. The theatre also
has very good acoustic effects and is equipped by all the new modern installation to make you fully enjoy the
performance.
Ukraine has always been well known by its ballet and opera singing school. The theater often performs the creation
of the Russian and Ukrainian music writers, which have distinguish national touch. Come and see and listen - you
